At 52,000 tons Imperator was the next ship.

Imperator was launched on 23rd May 1912, less than 2 months after Titanic was lost and began her maiden voyage on 20th June 1913.

No, When she was launched she was the largest British ship but still not as large as Imperator.

I have never looked into that but I suppose Britannic remained the largest British ship until the German liners were handed over to Britain after the World War. Britannic would have been the largest British built ship until Queen Mary in the 1930’s.

Royal Caribbean can now boast of having this distinction, what their newly built Legacy of the Seas cruise ship.

She, like Titanic, nearly had an accident getting out of her berth (I think)...plus, she doesn't have enough lifeboats either. I counted only 18, which includes both her port & starboard sides. emoticon
