What if Titanic never sank?

What do you think might have happened to Titanic if she had not sunk?

Would she have been used as a troop ship in World War One, had the same fate as Lusitania, been scrapped in the 30’s, Served in World War Two or maybe still be here today?

I think she would have been used in the first war and maybe the second. After that, I believe she would have ended up like her sister Olympic, being scrapped if she did not sink by the iceberg or sink like her younger sister Britannic.

Yes, I think she would have been used as a troop ship in world war one and would have been scrapped in the 1930's or have served until after world war 2 like Aquitania.

I agree. There are a number of possibilities though. Although those mentioned are the most likely ones to have happened.

Let's also think about her crew...

What would happen to them after the iceberg incident? Would they, like her surviving officers; Lightoller, Lowe, Boxhall, etc. ever be allowed on another ship performing their duties or what.

As for me, I'm especially thinking about one First Officer William McMaster Murdoch. Would he be forced to lose out altogether on his dream of ever taking command of his own ship, and/or retire completely from his seafaring career?

Had the Titanic not sank I think none of the design refits that were made to her sister ships would have been made. So given the service her other sister ships were placed in during WWI I think all of them would have been subject to even greater peril with perhaps even more tragic results.

I wonder if Britannic would have sank quicker if she had the design not been modified.

I believe titanic would have been scraped around the time olympic went.

Well now, I would be wondering if adorable Will Murdoch's dream of finally commanding his own ship...possibly, Titanic, would be realized?

A. With Will Murdoch in command of her, perhaps?

B. As is in Queen Mary's spot in Long Beach, CA, perhaps?

Forget what I said in my earlier post, OK? emoticon

If the Titanic had not sunk on the 15th of April, 1912, her likely career would be...

1914-1918 - Troop transport. Her speed would make her ideal for this. Her size means that she can carry lots of troops.

1920s - Conversion from coal to oil.

1918-1939 - Regular, transatlantic passenger service. Americans would swarm onboard for "booze cruises" during prohibition.

1939-1945 - Troop transport in WWII.

1946 - Breakup.

Oooor, if she was lucky, she'd be turned into a floating hotel such as the Queen Mary. Probably docked somewhere in America or the UK.

Cool!!! Now THAT would be something to book a First Class State Room, for which to spend a night /or two onboard her. emoticon

Like we did onboard Queen Mary, we would play that (I believe it's called...) Scanvanger Game...which is an a la Pajama Party-type game.

We'd (my cabin mate & I) would explore every little nook 'n' cranny of her...including Will's First Officer's (& Captains') Quarters. I'd stand on her starboard bridge wing, where Will stood. We'd stroll all around her boat & promenade decks...and the decks below these decks, and climb up 'n' down her Grand & Aft Staircases.

In other words, we would have ourselves a major blast onboard her. emoticon

What would you do, Shangas...if you too, was lucky enough to board her as a floating hotel? emoticon
