Re: Favourite White Star Ship?

After much thought on this topic, I must say that...

Aside from TITANIC, the original QUEEN MARY is my favorite oceanliner. She, you may recall, was the first ship to be commissioned to be built following the White Star Line-Cunard merger.

So to me personally, QUEEN MARY is the "true" Queen of the Ocean.

For Thee all the follies of sin I resign;
My gracious Redeemer, my Savior art Thou;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, 'tis now.

Mine would have to be the RMS Tayleur, which launched from Warrington (where I now live) on this day 160 years ago. But I am *slightly* biased seeing as I've just written a book on her. She sank two days into her maiden voyage, in 1854, on Lambay (just off the coast of Dublin). Tragic story, but compelling. The museum here has one of her portholes and some of the crockery from her hold.

Hi, have you had the book published?

Cunard White Star's Queen Mary certainly is, I think, one of the greatest ships ever built. I would love to visit her in Long Beach someday.

My favorite White Star ship (n0n-Olympic Class) is the Oceanic. very sadly, she was wrecked off the coast of Foula, Shetland Islands.
