I was merely making a point that 1889 was still the Victorian period. The Edwardian period did not start until 1901 when King Edward VII ascended to the throne on the death of his mother, Queen Victoria. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Shangas)Sun, 10 May 2009 06:34:11 +0000 Re: Edwardian Era Movieshttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p165467,from=rss#post165467https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p165467,from=rss#post165467quote:Shangas wrote: The Edwardian era is 1901-1910. 1889 is the VICTORIAN era. Actress, Megan Follows played the title role of the fiesty "Anne Shirley" in both of these films. Road To Avonlea/Avonlea starring Sarah Polley as "Sara Stanley," still another LMM TV movie, and... I believe that LMM's Emily of New Moon, a pilot TV movie als takes place in this same era too. Child Actress, Martha MacIsaac played the title role in this film. She later went on to also play the title role of "Emily Byrd Starr" in the TV series of this same title. All of LMM's books, for which these movies are based, take place on Canada's Maritime Province of Prince Edward Island...which is just off of the coast of Nova Scotia.nondisclosed_email@example.com (MurdochsAid)Tue, 21 Apr 2009 23:36:33 +0000 Re: Edwardian Era Movieshttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p165428,from=rss#post165428https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p165428,from=rss#post165428Some of the films that I have seen recently, that are set in the Edwardian Era are: The Titanic films. Britannic. Made in 2000, probably to cash in on Titanic (1997) and not going to win awards for accuracy but still not a bad film.   The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill and Came Down a Mountain. Set in 1917 and staring Huw Grant, Ian McNeice, Tara Fitzgeral..., two English cartographers are sent to a Welsh village to measure its mountain and discover it is only a hill, the villagers must delay them in leaving, so that they can increase the height of the hill, to make it a mountain. Miss Potter. (is that set in the Edwardian era?) Staring RenĂ©e Zellweger, it is a film about Beatrix Potter, the author of stories, such as Peter Rabbit. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Thomas Dyer)Sat, 18 Apr 2009 01:20:02 +0000 Re: Edwardian Era Movieshttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p165424,from=rss#post165424https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p165424,from=rss#post165424Films in the Edwardian era? Whereas Hayley Mills' 1960 Walt Disney version, left you feeling upbeat and happy, and hungering for more. I also wondered if Hayley, herself, too saw Georgina's version...and if she too, felt as I did about it.
