cameron movie nit picks...you got em i know

ok maybe its been covered before in this forum but i am new here so indulge me if you will. I want to have some fun here...so lets get to it!! what are little nit picks or annoyances that you have with the movie?? I will go first to give an example mine is the fact that when rose was floating on the door singing, when the cam goes to the sky you can see an airliner flying overhead with its lights flashing.

Hi Titanicangel and welcome onboard.

There are actually tens (maybe hundreds of them) some are "Missleading Facts" and others are pure errors or unedited mistakes. Here are some Factuall Mistakes:

1) Rose mentions Sigmund Freud's ideas on the male preoccupation with size to Bruce. Although, Freud did not publish his work on this issue until 1920 in "The Pleasure Principle." Furthermore, up until 1919, Freud relied solely on data from females!! The Titanic sank in 1912!!

2)The lake that Jack told Rose he went ice fishing on (when she was threatening to jump) is a man-made lake in Wisconsin near Chippewa Falls (where Jack grew up). The lake was only filled with water in 1917, that is 5 years after Titanic sank!!

more to follow emoticon

Hehe! yeh I remember that especially the one on freud. I am familiar with some of his work and remebered questioning that during the picuter the first time i saw it.

ANOther big misrepresentation was the fact that they made it look like only first class passengers were allowed to attend sunday services when in fact from what i have read that was the one time the third class could come down to the 1st class area( and i blieve it was the main dining room where they held if im not mistaken).

anyway, thankyou for your reply titanica..best wishes, misty

Hi Titanicangel06

I do hope I got that right, why does everyone try to confuse me with long names? No rephrase why does everyone confuse me, Like I said before I am sure it is to see how many different ways I can spell it. :-)

Great subject and I have a idea it will run for a long time now. I will post here soon

Titanica, And I thought I was the only one who noticed the remarks about freud :-( , Maybe it was a freudulent slip :-)

Are we sad for noticing this do you think :-)

I do know somewhere on the film one of the actors had a digital watch on as well but don't know who now. The "Love scene" in the Renault car would of been hard as the car was in crates!! Hmmm thought there I drive a Renault :-)

Like titanica says there are many and this looks a good fun thread, Well done for thinking this I see me been redundant soon ( or is it another conspiracy in the making :-) )

Regards
Graham

Another Factual Mistake that really bothers me when ever I see the movie:

When Jack and Rose are fleeing along a passage the water causes an explosion in each light fixture it reaches. The Titanic would have had DC lighting, in which case the bulbs would have simply broken from the temperature differential and the water would have shorted out the entire circuit that that lightbulb was on and the whole corridor should have blacked out!!

TItanic you make an excellent point though i dont know that much of lighting and stuff i do know that that ship should have blacked out long before it did

Heres more food for thought, if rose and jack went down on that ship, would the suction have not pulled them under even if they did kick hard...for somereason i dont think even evil kanevil could pull that one off..lol

Hi Titanica

This is silly now I am getting no replies and posts are suddenly appearing on the board in rapid succession so apologies for the people who do not seem to be getting answers.

I am so glad someone else mentions this, I said something to a person who worked on the film and he said no it would not, Now I know enough about DC and AC to know it would of gone in blackness. Circuit board would of jumped straight out. my father was a EM in the Royal navy and I learned a whole lot of it myself. ( well he started as a EM )

Great point

Regards
Graham
