H Titanica

Ok so smaller rafts and more of them interlink, Now that seems good but it is not as buoyant as one big raft. Plus you have now big added problems, Seepage of water from the joins. In a panic people trying to join them, in reality you have small life boats. in emergencies they tend to tie the boats together when they are near as to make a bigger surface area. One for buoyancy secondly easier to see.

But your drawings are terrific, ever thought about going into design, or are you already in it??

I am still working on the big raft idea.

Graham

Thanks Graham, I am flattered, but I am not a designer. Painting (water colors) is a passion of mine...one day I will post some paintings I have made if you want to see them, but I feel may be this forum is not suitable!!... I do play the guitar as a second hobby, Calligraphy (Arabic letters) is the third, fishing..etc and the list goes on.

BACK TO THE SUBJECT...I guess your right, the seeping water from the joints is a problem. And propably when the Titanic sank...this what they did, they joined the life boats together,,,didn't they?

Hi Titanica,

You seem to have a very full hobby list, I would love to see some of your pictures, I started to draw and pant a long time ago, Mainly oils though, I thought about water colours and did go out buy a lad of stuff but never got round to it. Calligraphy is really enjoyable though. Fishing well I used to go a lot but never get round to it now.

But back on thread yes the lifeboats or some of them where tied together, and in some cases people here transferred from one to another, Like I said this is common in emergency's it is easier to see for the main plus it gives more buoyancy. Also the added thing of sharing recourses.

Regards
Graham

Hi Folks

Now I am a bit late with this one I know but better late than never. In a post a while ago I stated that the idea of putting all the life saving jackets together to form a raft had been issued somewhere else. Well I finally found it. Over on TT a message quoting Rizotto was placed. So I source this from Titanic Titanic in case of comebacks.

The quote is as follows:

"Rizotto demonstrated that constructing six rafts out of the Titanic's thirty-six hundred life jackets (when one takes into account the jackets' bouyancy and the average passenger's weight), maximizing the capacity of the lifeboats, and rationally organizing their loading would have saved everyone on board, with room for 319 to spare."

So as one can see it is quite feasible to have a raft onto which people can be saved.

Graham
