That, and the negative environmental consequences...icebergs dilute the salt water in some (not all) areas noticably.

Re: dum crew men

getting rid of icebergs completely hmmmmm
now there is an idea worth listening too.

there is no possible way they could do that . especially in the shipping lanes. yeah they could blow up the main ones that pose a threat to ships but it is a rather bad idea anyway.

I'm sure you know the famous JJ Astor comment - "I wanted ice but this is ridiculous."?

Re: dum crew men

yeah and they were kicking it around on the decks...

i think if like i stated before they new how serious the situation actually was i think they would not have done that or made jokes about it.

i also believe more lives would have been saved as to the fact that they would have been more willing to get into the boats .

Re: dum crew men

you know graham ,
i do have an interesting point there yes.

however what i failed to mention in my previous post is that had they had known the actual seriousness of the disaster then there would have definately been panic amongst not only the passengers but the crew and officers as well.

that had to have been hard for the officers to do that.

by that i mean for them to stand there and work trying to get as many people off the ship as possible and for them not wanting to get off ... and for the officers knowing they were going to die... makes you wander what made them stay.
i mean i have seen where the crew would leave the passengers when the ship was in distress and forget them... not care or worry about how they were going to be saved.

that is wrong and anyone who knows me knows that i do not believe in leaving if i can help in anyway possible.

so there are as you can see good points and bad points alike . sometimes you have to weigh then odds and see what you come up with .
