Re: Some Helpful Titanic Information Websites
Hi Titanica
The model that that group is associated with is a self build through a magazine. It is available in France, US,Canada and England. I would think they could ship it to Africa but you would have to approach the company. Who I have forgot there name. But be warned it is not cheap and the company are not the best, there was a lot of problems on all countries doing it.
Your best plan of action if you want a model to build is to contact one of the model companies who specialise in models and see if they can send you one.

Re: Some Helpful Titanic Information Websites
Hi Titanic
I will try to find you some links for good model sites that do mail order, Or you could try e-bay. They don't come up very often but every now and then there is one on the global sites.
As for help, dont worry anyone here will help if they can I am sure

Re: Some Helpful Titanic Information Websites
Hi Titanica
Without going through the thread again and seeing what links are available, I will post a few here for you to look at.
The first link is the mother off all models link. Depending on your experience building models it will either help you or go over you.
http://titanicmodel.com/
The next link here is for a sort of find a store , but does have helpful information. Can be a bit hard to navigate though sometimes but a bit of perseverance and hey presto!!
http://www.surprise.com/hobbies/models/titanic_model.cfm
E-Bay of course like Wills and I have both agreed is a great place to start. Plus been in Africa I think you said may be a real good place for you. the following link is for searches now today on e-bay, try it I have not looked at them all but there is some real good buys at the moment.
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&query2=Titanic+model*+-postcard&search_option=1&minPrice=&maxPrice=&category0=&st=1&gift=0&exclude=&st=&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&maxRecordsPerPage=50&worldlocation=ebayavail%C3%82%C2%AEion=0&available_to=1&located_in=1&ebaycurr=&submit=+Search+&siteid=0&query=Titanic+model*+-postcard&shortcut=&ebaytag1code_tmp=&ebaytag1_tmp=&ebaytag1code=&ebaytag1=&ebaytag12=ebayreg&from=R6
Here is a model waiting for someone to buy.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3180748399&category=4248&tc=photo
Or here is how to get the new revel kit. I find these kits relatively easy for the beginner, I have loads now and they always look good, but the detail is not brilliant. If you are starting out on model making this would seem a good place to start.

There are a host of other good models, of various cost about it is a matter of selecting where you want to start.
Hope this helps a bit and gets you thinking.
Regards
Graham

Re: Some Helpful Titanic Information Websites
Thank you Graham for the links, they're very helpful. I think I am becoming more and more "uncureable" opsessed with the history of Titanic and Titanic models
Did you see the "JOHN CAIATI'S SCRATCHBUILT MODEL TITANIC" in the first link you recomended?? They show a beautiful picture from the movie "Raise the Titanic"! it is a must see!!
Many Thanks, once again. You're very kind.
