Re: Hiya
If my research is correct then Capt. Smith had a daughter called Helen.

I think this should make things clearer
However the one here who will know for sure is Wendy

Priscilla and Simon Russell-Cooke were born June 18, 1923 to Captain E. J. Smith's only child, Helen. Simon died in 1944 while serving in WWII having never married. Priscilla married in 1946 to a lawyer named John Constantine Phipps but died in 1947 from polio.

Re: Hiya
Go Lee go! Just a bit of historical trivia...you can say Helen made her mother a gradmother the day after her birthday...Mrs. Smith was born, I believe, June 17th 1861.

Re: Hiya
I just watched a DVD entitled "Edward J. Smith: The Captian of the Titanic. It showed his birth place and the house he moved to when he married and lots of interesting facts and photos. It is great to have the honor to talk with relatives of the Titanic. Hello from the home town of "The Unsinkable Molly Brown".
