shame on you for procrastinating wills...
Angel,
Lill ain't the only one procrastinating here, when it comes to finishing our prospective models.
Hey Lill--If you look closely at the hull, you will see a bow-to-stern line for which to stick masking tape on, just above above that waterline. Below that, is where you begin painting the waterline on both the port & starboard sides. I painted the waterline rust color (when it should've been a reddish color) on the black hull, was the first step I took to starting work on my model. But before that, I glued on the white plastic rudder, twin propeller shafts, and parts F(1)R & L onto the hull, so they too could be painted. I had to apply two coats of paint.
When it comes to painting the white trim to the top part of the hull, several coats of white paint is required. And then comes the fun part of trying to paint the yellowish-gold trim that boarders the white & black hull. That you do "very" carefully, unless your's already comes with the gold trim decals.
I used James Cameron's 1/20th (40 ft.) model that's seen on the backcover of my THS' TITANIC Commutator - Volume 23, Number 146 - 1999, as my guide.
MA
P.S. Next comes the gnashing of your teeth as to what to figure out next with your instruction booklet.

Re: a new titanic model.
procrastinating huuh?
yep that would be me guilty as charged uhuhuhuh.
will not deny it .
i have painted her water line and the super structure[the white part] it took several coats to do both.
i have glued the decks on and everything.
i just havent finnished it.
it has a lot of detail to it and i am afraid i may have to skip a few steps just to get her done. lol.
ohhhh if only i could pay someone toput my model together for me ... that would be great.

Re: a new titanic model.
HI All
I have to admit my poor victory is still sat looking at me from top of the unit in the frount room, Its masts all laid flat waiting for me to try to carry on with it. The painting side is often the worst part of the model. All its cannons and shutters are different colour. The hull as in the original is copper, Sails and rigging to do, And as Angel says I also have a lot of work to do before I am suposed to vacate looks like I will be taking a bus mans holliday this time. :-)
Wills I would love to do it for you :-)
No charge either

Oh but, Lill...from what I read of what all you've done on your model's hull, don't you think that you would get a much better satisfaction if you were to work on your baby yourself?
Got me, I've still got the forecastle & poop decks to add; the metal railings to paint & add; rigging my four funnels (that are just unglued together, & are standing on their perspective bases); and last-but-not-least...those troublesome flimsy plastic masts & crow's nest, that I can't figure out how to attach the rigging lines & Marconi aerial lines to. Not to mention the decals, lifeboat davits (I would like to order metal masts & davits), and lifeboats to complete my poor neglected baby.

Re: a new titanic model.
HI Wills
What Tammy says is true, you will find it much more gratifying if you manage to find the time to finish the model, But after saying that I would be only to pleased to finish it for you.

Re: a new titanic model.
Hi Wills
My victory thinks the same way I am afraid. It is sat on the unit top watching me and wondering if it will ever see its sails and other things missing.
