I wish that GMM would also come out with the funnel pipes, b/c with the 3rd funnel. When I tried to bend it as prescribed, in hot water, it broke. While one end is glued to the 3rd funnel, the other end, you see--fits into the holes seen on the roof of the 2nd-Class staircase. Then there are there is another vent to also go on that same roof, and then a railing. I also took notice on the TITANIC Modelling Assn. site that one can buy the (there may be A/B-deck walls, too) promenade deck outter walls that are metal photo-etched parts. These walls extend up to the boat deck. Am I correct on this, Graham? Graham Oh, you would? Please do tell me how we can accomplish this? Would I have to also purchase more metal GMM parts for it, to give it a more museum quality look; such as not only railings, but davits, crains, ladders, etc.? And then the other photo-etched metal parts, such that part that fits on the prow (remember that "I'm flying!!!" scene w/Kate & Leo?); foremast & main masts (I hate those flimsy plastic masts that come with the kit itself); Marconi aerial trees, which rig the 4 aerial lines between the two masts; compass tower between the 2nd & 3rd funnels; pulleys for the rigging lines, etc.? I know that all those extra parts offered are (C) of the TITANIC Modelling Assn. website. Anyway, when you see my baby, you may have to also re-align the portside bridge wing house, so that it will look as level as the starboard side. For that matter, you may have to completely redo her promenade & boat decks. Trim off her boat deck stairwell roofs, b/c there aren't roofs atop of them. The black thread used as the funnel lines, are from my late grandmother's sewing kit, she used for rugs. They may be as old as Titanic herself. Anyhoo, how can I get her to you in one piece, in the Academy Model kit box she came in? Got me, I've still got the forecastle & poop decks to add; the metal railings to paint & add; rigging my four funnels (that are just unglued together, & are standing on their perspective bases); and last-but-not-least...those troublesome flimsy plastic masts & crow's nest, that I can't figure out how to attach the rigging lines & Marconi aerial lines to. Angel, Lill ain't the only one procrastinating here, when it comes to finishing our prospective models. Hey Lill--If you look closely at the hull, you will see a bow-to-stern line for which to stick masking tape on, just above above that waterline. Below that, is where you begin painting the waterline on both the port & starboard sides. I painted the waterline rust color (when it should've been a reddish color) on the black hull, was the first step I took to starting work on my model. But before that, I glued on the white plastic rudder, twin propeller shafts, and parts F(1)R & L onto the hull, so they too could be painted. I had to apply two coats of paint. When it comes to painting the white trim to the top part of the hull, several coats of white paint is required. And then comes the fun part of trying to paint the yellowish-gold trim that boarders the white & black hull. That you do "very" carefully, unless your's already comes with the gold trim decals. I used James Cameron's 1/20th (40 ft.) model that's seen on the backcover of my THS' TITANIC Commutator - Volume 23, Number 146 - 1999, as my guide. MA P.S.
