Tacky and Tasteless Titanic Collectibles

I found this on Ebay (yes, I am an Ebay-a-holic) and found it to be in very poor taste. The starting bid for this "thing" is $24.99 or a buy it now option for $25.00 US funds. Very bad taste in my opinion.

That is pretty tasteless! I have a thimble with a same scene pictured on it...and come to think of it--it's pretty tasteless too. emoticon

yeah, I just don't like to see it sinking I guess. I saw one time on Ebay a skull wearing a Titanic hat that was way more tasteless than this!!! Talk about people who will sell anything to make a buck!!! emoticon

Hi darkrose

I have to agree it is tacky, nearly as bad as a bit of coal stuck to a piece of wood.

As for cartoons. I have a collection of newspaper cartoons from the time of the sinking and they where tacky as well

Graham

hey i have those skulls in titanic caps.
four of them. yeah they are tacky but cool to set on top of my desk .

i have seen the same item on ebay several times . you would be surprised what people will sell.
how about the coin bank that is cast iron and when you pop in a coin it goes toward the iceberg . now that is tacky.
i have even seen an inflateable titanic stern slide .

Hi Wills

I agree it is surprising just what people will think of for selling as a gimmick.

bit like the Titanic pleasure park. Still people do monopolise on accidents and tragedies. Look how quick jokes (sick) comes to light after a bad event. Comedians make money out of them so can be put in the same category.

I once saw a beautiful cigarette desk top tin, had the titanic in enamel on the top with the WSL logo and flag. It was not till you opened it up you realised how tacky it was. Inside was a iceberg, made from stainless steal and the words. Both kill you in the end. I put it back down.

Hi Wills

Yes agreed it was tacky and tasteless. But it is a thing that people will buy. Well used to till all the no smoking campaigns etc.

E-Bay has all sorts especially around now, people monopolise on the time and date.
