A new tacky

As the people selling this admit it's tacky, I'll stick this one on - http://secured.titanichistoricalsociety.org/shop/tek9.asp?pg=products&specific=joloiqk8

No, If for some reason I had to have something like that I would hide it deep in the furthest recesses of my inner sanctum and only look at it myself on every other dark of the moon at midnight.....

Do you get the idea that I don't like that thing?

Actually the only Titanic thing that I have readily visible in my living room (outside whatever books etc. I happened to be reading at the moment) is a small 7" long metal 'waterline' model of the Titanic that I inherited which sits on my fireplace mantelpiece in front of an antique clock. Pretty unobtrusive--wouldn't even know I was a Titanic nut.
Oops, I take that back. I have a third class blanket as a throw on my sofa. Anyway, all my other stuff is put away wherever; the dishes in the cupboard, books in the library, etc. etc. and my pieces of lifeboat number 6 are in an airtight box along with the photgraphs of them being removed...waiting for the day when I can figure out how to display them. Any ideas?

Really? It had totally escaped me emoticon

What I have is that great little model that sinks like the real thing....and a big 3' critter that's been looking at me telling me to put it together for about three years now.

How are those sinking models? I saw them for sale at the T exhibit, but there was too much else to get...besides I didn't know if they were any good. Didn't look very realistic. Are they?

They are fantastic. I have a Japanese friend here who saw it when I demonstrated it to my science fiction club (they included ice cubes to the sink....) and he was so impressed, he got me an invite to a party at the Japanese Embassy where we sank it in one of the carp pools.

Is that a recommendation? They were all quite impressed when it came apart so realistically....

Sometimes they show up on eBay - just stick it in the automatic notification on your account, they'll tell you when one is for sale.
