Who was the artist, Mark?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Teamtunafish)Sun, 15 Aug 2004 20:13:15 +0000 Re: RMS Olympic: Titanic's Sisterhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6916,from=rss#post6916https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6916,from=rss#post6916Hi The Foxes! Thanks for your kind words. Hi Wills! It is a nice shot of Olympic, although strictly speaking it isn't a photograph. You've paid the artist a great compliment by thinking it is! The original was a black and white photo, and this is an artist's version. It's a pity that there aren't any colour images at this date. I wish there were! I don't think that the war paint took much longer than a normal thorough painting during a refit. It was changed several times during the war. As you've implied, I'm sure it would have been harder than the normal 'all black' hull paint (excluding the superstructure, funnels, etc.) Kindest regards, Mark. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mark Chirnside)Sun, 15 Aug 2004 08:46:40 +0000 Re: RMS Olympic: Titanic's Sisterhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6915,from=rss#post6915https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6915,from=rss#post6915i like that photo of her . it is a nice one. it shows a lot of the troops that she carried as well. and even the lifeboats are painted different colors. any idea mark on how long it took them to do the "war paint" on olympic? just curious as i know it must have taken quite a while. thanks for the link as well. willsnondisclosed_email@example.com (wills)Sun, 15 Aug 2004 06:07:15 +0000 Re: RMS Olympic: Titanic's Sisterhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6914,from=rss#post6914https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6914,from=rss#post6914Good luck with the new book.nondisclosed_email@example.com (The Foxes)Sun, 15 Aug 2004 01:41:16 +0000 Re: RMS Olympic: Titanic's Sisterhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6913,from=rss#post6913https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6913,from=rss#post6913I had never heard the word 'Purdy' before! So it means 'good' or something like that? (Forgive my ignorance!) It is a nice shot of her in wartime. Strictly speaking the colours are a little more varied, but it does look quite nice. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mark Chirnside)Sat, 14 Aug 2004 09:09:09 +0000 Re: RMS Olympic: Titanic's Sisterhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6912,from=rss#post6912https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6912,from=rss#post6912that means mark that is is a pretty cover. ttf likes the cover. i think that is a great shot of the olympic. she looks incredible with her war paint. willsnondisclosed_email@example.com (wills)Sat, 14 Aug 2004 02:13:56 +0000 Re: RMS Olympic: Titanic's Sisterhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6911,from=rss#post6911https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6911,from=rss#post6911What does that mean?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mark Chirnside)Fri, 13 Aug 2004 18:12:26 +0000 Re: RMS Olympic: Titanic's Sisterhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6910,from=rss#post6910https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6910,from=rss#post6910Purdy cover.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Teamtunafish)Thu, 12 Aug 2004 21:00:12 +0000 RMS Olympic: Titanic's Sisterhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6909,from=rss#post6909https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p6909,from=rss#post6909Hi!
