Re: IS IT RIGHT
the key word here is enjoy. not many people can say they enjoy it.
i bet people with websites work very hard to keep them running smoothly .

Re: IS IT RIGHT
Hi Wills
As Tom and others can vouch geting a web site and managing a website is two different things. It is easy today to get a site but to be able to run it is a complete different kettle of fish.
You have also to remeber that you have to keep it informative as well as up to date.
Regards
Graham

oh yes i agree graham.
i bet the hardest part is getting people to sign up or join the site.then it would have to be keeping it updated and the information new.

Re: IS IT RIGHT
Hi Wills
The web site has to be informative and up to date, where as if you add message boards then yes the hardest part is getting people to join.
Or if you intend to do a charge site then it really has to be good

Graham

Re: IS IT RIGHT
I'm a newcomer here, but this debate has been all over for some time now. Beings as I have been 'asked' by virtue of this thread, I will state my thoughts for the record here and in the future when it comes up on other threads (which it does--often)I will merely refer readers back here for my opinion...saves time that way.
I hear that some want to leave the wreck absolutely alone as some kind of 'evocative ruin' and others want to raise bits and parts to be seen as a memorial to those who sailed her. I am obviously much more for the latter. If it were me, or a loved one of mine, who went down on her I would want as many reminders around for people to see as possible. My dealings with old war vets etc. has taught me that the dead (and soon to be) just don't want to be forgotten.
The objects down there are not grave goods--they were not placed there by loved ones as in a tomb--but rather incidental detritus from an accident, much like battlefield debris and destroyed military equipment is found around battlefields. But the things do reflect upon us the lives that were lived.....

Re: IS IT RIGHT
Hi 7th
In all due respect to you in particular you would say that wouldn't you. You dive wrecks for I assume a living, You bring objects to the surface and conserve them.
So in reality I would not expect you to say any different.
It has also been stated that it is a personal preference and and as such is best left that way I think.
It is nice to see you here though and look forward to talking real soon.
Graham

Re: IS IT RIGHT
Yes, and those are my personal preference. I put them here on record for all to see right off so there will be no question. That's the end of it. I will not argue, but rather simply refer folks to this page.
