Re: New Crew Member
I think I have changed my mind about being captain, after all, he has to go down with the ship, I much prefer the women and children first thing.

Re: New Crew Member
Hi Carol
He only goes down with the ship as he has to pay his company for losses of company equipment :-)
A squady friend of mine once got a month guard duty for that, He misplaced his rifle in a exercise while a squady. His sergeant major told him if he did not find it he would be liable for the cost out of his wage, quickly he replied " no wonder the captain goes down with his ship" Guard duty followed for answering back a senior officer.

Re: New Crew Member
That would explain why Captain Smith went down with the Titanic. He was probibly still paying of the damages he done to the Olympic.

Re: New Crew Member
Hi Carol
You could well be right there. His bill was getting pretty stiff.
On a side note, it is believed the tradition of the captain going down goes way back in history. Most Captains did however survive. But the ones who went down where always looked on as hero's the ones who didn't where cowards unless no one was killed. Then they became heroes.
