Re: German "Titanic" Movie
I finally got to see the German "Titanic" movie and well, where to begin? This is the most hashed-up version of history ever filmed (worse even than "The Tudors"! JBruce Ismay is "Sir Bruce" and is involved in a securities war with Astor oh lest I forget, he has a fiancee with him on the voyage--wonder how MRS. Ismay might feel about THAT!)
The Second Officer is named Pederson and is supposedly German (man, that would have gotten Lightoller mad, I'm sure). The band plays oom-pah music as the ship is being evacuated, etc, etc, etc. I never believed there was a Titanicmovie WORSE than the CBS version. Well I was wrong--this is worse. Far worse.

Re: German "Titanic" Movie
Hi Lights
An interesting synopsis, You do have to remember of course that the German film was a propaganda film. And to answer one of the questions, "what would Mrs Ismay think" at the time she thought it rather amusing actually. As bad films go and ratings out of ten I would probably go half way with a 5 which is far more than I ever gave to Cameron's film. That was just a proposition lost in the world of research and history.

Re: German "Titanic" Movie
I am aware that it was a propganda film, but I rest my case that it is still a very poor film. And the comment about Mrs Ismay is what is commonly called a catty remark.
