The Memoirs of Violet Jessop

I’ve just started to read Titanic Survivor, The Memoirs of Violet Jessop, written by Titanic stewardess Violet Jessop, who survived not only the Titanic disaster but the sinking of Britannic. The book details her life and career, including her eyewitness account of Titanic and Britannic. The book is edited, introduced and annotated by historian, John Maxtone-Graham.

I’ve only read the preface and introduction so far but, so far it’s been excellent to read and looks like it is going to be enjoyable.

I was not aware of this book. I would like to read it, as I find Violet Jessop's story fascinating. Not only surviving Titanic but also Britannic, as well as serving on Olympic both before and after.

Hi Thomas,
I have read this book and though it was very good and interesting, i thought it was a little short on detail on the titanic and the olympic.
good read though, great for researching the time period.
there was not enough detail on the actual sinking and olympic is barely mentioned at all.
im surprised the hawk collision was not there.

Hi Aloptia,
i believe it was first published in 1998 and it consists of extracts from her diary. i think it was a case of some stuff being omitted but you can by it on amazon for 0.01p. worth the purchase.
