Captain Smith to retire?

Is it true that Captain Smith was to retire after the maiden voyage or is that a myth?

Tis true, Aloptia. But then again, JMHO, he should've retired way B4 Titanic's maiden voyage ever took place.

Well, has long as he's healthy and pass regular check ups.It is really up to the captain if he feels like to retire or not, there is no dierect age limited to quit work.
Also depends on how well the captain was finalail stable,if to retier or not.

After the White Star/Cunard merger I think it was 60 for White Star Captains and 65 for Cunard Captains!
