Identification

Maybe someone can help identify which ship the following item came from.
A silver plated napkin ring (by Elkingtons) with the white star flag on one side and on the other the number 49 with a Maltese cross underneath.

Thanks

I dont't think you will be able to find out exactly what ship it was used on because they often used the same for every ship but someone should be able to tell you in what class it was used and what ships it might have been on.

Re: Identification

I think it is one of those items that a lot of research has to be done looking through books and web sites. Then been a common article if you can supply a picture I am sure someone can either direct you to the correct place or indeed tell you the information you want, But as tom says it is highly unlikely unless it is stamped with a ships name it will be a class of ships.
