They weren't "bought from the germans"...they were seized by the allies.

White Star called them Homeric (Columbus) and Majestic (Bismarck).

]Majestic (II) was the largest ship that the White Star line ever owned, she was the largest in the world until Normandie, which entered service in 1935 and the largest British ship until Queen Mary entered serice in 1936.

]Majestic and]Homeric were both sold off in 1936.
