lol...yes you got a point there graham! Steerage would be quite interesting as well, never thought of that, or the people in the boiler room or engine room bet they had some intersting stories

Yes indeed the engine room people stokers etc. had a hard life and would change from ship to ship as did most of the crew. They would have plenty a sea tale to tell

Indeed they would. I had breakfast with the son of one of the stokers at a BTS convention, and some of the tales he told were funny - especially about what some of the stewards could and would do to passengers they didn't like. (Let's just say that there are other ways of adding water to a swimming pool than bringing it in buckets and leave it at that).
