Mainly I like it because my husband is serving on it and helped build it( cant really call it a her i dont think)nondisclosed_email@example.com (titanicangel06)Fri, 23 Apr 2004 03:23:06 +0000 Re: FAVOURITEhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p1021,from=rss#post1021https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p1021,from=rss#post1021HI Lights Will be sending some to Titanica for him to sort out for me if he will. She was the SS Varuna. A really nice little well not so little steam yacht, Owned by a man called Higgins from NY. He spent his last days in Torquay Uk. The yacht unfortunately sank with as always for me a tale to tell. She has been found not hard as it was on rocks close to the cliff and been photographed. Well what's left of the boilers have anyway. Will try to post pics of her soon Higgins by the way was a good a real good friend of Mr Clinch Smith, first class passenger lost on board Titanic, who was a good friend of Archie. Small world isn't it. Early in the morning of May 29th 1914, a Norwegian coal ship called the "Storstad" rammed the Empress of Ireland in the thick fog. It took the Empress only 14 minutes to sink with a terrible loss of life. She lies only 130 feet below the surface of the St Lawrence River east of Quebec City. Of the 1,477 on board, 1,012 died. 840 of them being passengers. Very sad disaster. Most of the people on board were asleep and didn't even know what had happened. **These facts came from "Ghost Liners: Exploring the Worlds Greatest Lost Ships" by Dr. Robert Ballard**nondisclosed_email@example.com (Jade)Thu, 19 Jun 2003 03:46:17 +0000 Re: FAVOURITEhttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p1013,from=rss#post1013https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p1013,from=rss#post1013Hmmm--let's see.
