This was shortly after "Naronic" had vanished. A fishing boat, Dutch, I think spotted one that still had corpses aboard. High seas prevented retrieval, but they did, in fact, report it.  Am willing to field any questions. Weekend is coming up after tonight, so I'll have time. I've come to like "Naronic", and there's plenty to share.  Best regards!  John. nondisclosed_email@example.com (WSL1909)Wed, 16 Feb 2005 15:15:52 +0000 Re: The Naronichttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p9796,from=rss#post9796https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p9796,from=rss#post9796HI Blondmermaid Nice to see you here and yes she is the mystery ship, John Hemmert is about the bigest officialdo on her that I know of so any questions would be best sent to him here , John works a lot so a reply may be sometimes slow but he always replyes in the end. Personal life took a turn for the weird when my birthday came up. My wife was planning a rther large "pirate" themed party. (Ahhhr Mateys!) and I got drafted into the prep work. All went off well, happily. (I have been gifted with a copy of the "Ghosts of the Abyss" DVD, and 3 bottles of whiskey...)  I have the pic in jpeg format. I do NOT, however, have a website. If someone with a website could privately email me at jhemmert@yahoo.com, I will gladly send them the pic to post here.  By the way, more has turned up on "Naronic". Hello WSL1909, Many thanks for wanting to share the picture with us. Do you have it displayed on a website somewhere? Because then you just insert the URL address here in the reply using the "insert image button" and it will show here. Howevere, if you just have it on your computer, then the best thing to do is to send it to me by email and I will put it up on a temp website that I have and use just for posting pics and images on this board. I hope this was helpful I am afraid, this is because this board does not support the "directly uploading image from your PC" option!!!!! The one that Tom asked us to vote for moving to...support such options.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Titanica)Tue, 20 Apr 2004 07:42:14 +0000 Re: The Naronichttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p9785,from=rss#post9785https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p9785,from=rss#post9785Hi WSL1909 I am not sure mysellf but if you contact titanica he will be able to show you or tell you whichever. But it depends how you look at the word amateur I suppose. Me I will always be a amateur as I don't really specialise in one ship, well not often anyway. I am so glad though that we definitely think alike about the style of ships. At least a good old steamer looks like a ship not as you so elegantly put it "door stop" . Got my own word for them but not really repeatable on boards. I suppose there is a lot to be said for technology but ship design like train design is not one of them. Even the tall ships had character and style. I still watch with pleasure to see the likes of the Endevor in full sail come into Whitby and indeed Middlesbrough fireing cannons to port. Or the smoke from a stack on a old steam ship coming down into the basin for repair just up the road from me. Yes there is still steam ships about not many bet they are still working. The last one here was a Russian ship in bad need for repair. Regards Grahamnondisclosed_email@example.com (graham 01)Mon, 22 Mar 2004 20:32:05 +0000 Re: The Naronichttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p9779,from=rss#post9779https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p9779,from=rss#post9779Hi All,  Graham, glad to be aboard! (Heh! Yup. WSL1909, as that's the shipping line and year of its history that I'm rather fixated on, eh?) heh! I'm still an amateur, I believe. I'm not yet "published", nor have I yet worked on a large scale paying contract, nor made into a documentary. We'll see, I guess!  Tom, I look forward to hearing from you, I'm sure we'll both have a good time, and do a bit of learning as well. I'd been wanting to do a website regarding "Naronic" for quite some time now, but I simply haven't had the time or facility to do it. So, helping you will be great. I'll be quite happy to give you what I've got on her, as it will then, finally, make it onto the net.  Hi Titanica! And thanks for the welcome! Boring? To other nautical history enthusiasts? I doubt that. Me, I'm interested first and foremost in the old "transitional" style ships of the 1870-1910 period. (They carried both sails and had steam engines with propellors.) But, I am also interested in the older sailing vessels, and newer ships as well. (All the way up until they started looking like floating doorstops, that is.)  You'll find the "Bovic" interesting, I'm sure. Not only was she one of "Naronic's" sisters, they used her for stability tests after the "Naronic" vanished to try and see if "Naronic" capsized. The findings were that she probably didn't. Also, several "pictures" of the "Naronic", that I've seen, are actually of the "Bovic", with just the name changed. My, my... looks like you haven't really quite gotten off the "Naronic" yet, eh?  Best regards!  John.  nondisclosed_email@example.com (WSL1909)Mon, 22 Mar 2004 20:14:01 +0000 Re: The Naronichttps://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p9778,from=rss#post9778https://btomdyerstitanicsitecommunity.runboard.com/p9778,from=rss#post9778It alters by the number of posts you send.
