Re: Titanic Founder Fears for Future of Great Wreck
Gonna take time to read article this evening...if what you say is true, Lee, it is indeed sad.
--- "What I remember about that night- what I will remember as long as I live- is the people crying out to each other as the stern began to plunge down. I heard people crying, 'I love you.'"

Re: Titanic Founder Fears for Future of Great Wreck
Yes, the entire article is basically "They're ruining the entire thing by going to see it and I don't want them too! Waaaaa!" Sad, I've always liked and respected the man. I understand his being propriatary, but you can't own a monument, and that's what the ship is.

Yep, Le...but one can at least hope that they will at least try to be careful around what is left of the ship.
I mean, it won't be all that long until landing on her decks will be foolhardy if not downright suicidal...don't want her to claim any more victims.

Yes, but I sure hope Cameron does the other trips he's planning - apparently, if he can get turned 'round right, he wants to take Jake and Ellwood into the Turkish Bath area, which would definately be worth seeing!

Re: Titanic Founder Fears for Future of Great Wreck
So titanic is a monument is it??? Surely then it is a grave as well or does this go against the concensus?? As for it not claimiong any more victimes, I think the word is soles:-) and if they are mad enough to land on her decks rthen they deserve to be kept by the grand lady and her spirits down there. There has been enough grave robery down there for a life time so why not just let her be now?

Re: Titanic Founder Fears for Future of Great Wreck
True Graham, and one of these days I think the Grand Old Lady is going to claim someone dumb enough to land on decking that is rapidly disintegrating. Like you I am down on people landing on her and can only say that if someone ends up being a permanent fixture on TITANIC, they will deserve it!

On the other hand, I certainly can't fault James Cameron for giving us GOTA.
