He had the ship's doctors establish medical stations in the dining rooms. Public areas were stocked with blankets, warm clothing, food and hot drinks. Electric lights were hung over the sides of the ship to make boarding easier. Ladders, nets and chair slings were readied to help get the survivors on board. Even the cranes were prepared so they could bring up any luggage or mail that may have been saved.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Talira Greycrest)Mon, 22 Jan 2018 05:41:51 +0000 Re: Our Hero, Capt. [wills goes and pouts in the corner] anyway i didnt know that they would have gotten charged for that ...the very same thing rostron did .,wow. then i guess i can understand too because the ship would have been put in serious danger and the crew as well. but i imagine he took caution when entering the icefield. i have heard before that he came close to hitting a few . willsnondisclosed_email@example.com (wills)Sat, 05 Jun 2004 23:58:12 +0000 Re: Our Hero, Capt. Although, if someone really tried to dismiss someone under similar cirumstances today, I imagine the shipping line would have to back down if the hulabaloo was anything like Rostron caused - people have, on occasion, been known to use their heads for more than a hatrack.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Teamtunafish)Sat, 05 Jun 2004 18:15:12 +0000 Re: Our Hero, Capt. Rostron thread should go so I put it here...now this gent is MY hero! Not only did he come to the rescue of TITANICs survivor, but there is a story that he did so later on with I believe Mauretania, bringing food and medical help to a sailing ship...will have to find the quote in my book on liners. Now THIS Chap is a CAPTAIN!! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lights)Fri, 04 Jun 2004 17:00:02 +0000
