Master of the TITANIC

I just got ahold of a rather rare book (at least in the US), Master of the TITANIC by Pat Lacey.

Ms. Lacey is, I believe, either a niece or great-niece of Captain Smith and she has written what amounts to his biography as an historical novel. I am not all that far along in it, but so far I am enjoying Master of the TITANIC a great deal. I often find it easier and more enjoyable to read biographical materiel in novel form and Ms. Lacey's work is no exception.

There are almost no biographies of Captain Smith--in fact, Master of the TITANIC and The Man Who Sank the TITANIC? by Gary Cooper are the only two in existence.
There seems to be very little bilographical materiel on Captain Smith and Ms. Lacey does an excellent job of increasing the amount of knowledge that we have about "the Master of the TITANIC".

I finished it last night and I liked it a great deal...I think Smith's basic personality comes through very well...what I also like is that it gives at least one TITANIC personality a human face...it would be nice if there were more novels of this sort...

Obviously the p[ost I did on this didn't go through...I believe he had some half-brothers and sisters, as his father was married previously...I do know that there is at least one nephew (half-nephew?) that has one of his sextants and a cigar holder...

Best captain a man could have ever served under...I forgot that sobriquet...Storm King...he made Cameron look like a wuss...and if Will remembers old John G., he'll know that chap was pretty tough!
