My personal view on Gardiner is that he deserves a horselaugh and a trash can. It's kinda fun to go over to ET and watch them turn red in the face and scream at each other about why the Hell he gets published (always with the inference their books deserve it more). I once made the MAJOR mistake of trying to put some reality in there - i.e., that the publishers publish him because he sells. And very well. And after all the publisher is in business to make money.

Talk about a cold shoulder and dead silence.....

well that is because some people want things their way and no other.

and you are right he does make a lot of money and that is what the publishers look at.

Re: Thomas Andrews--Voyage Into History

Hi All

Ok here I go now:-), I sort of feel a big bat coming towords me at the moment and it looks like it may be aimed at the head :-(.

Right Robin has a new book out either this or early next year, He is suposed to of got a lot of new information on the (dare I say ) switch theory. I use the word theory as it is one thing that utill concrete proof either way is produced can we realy say any other. My feeling is that no way was the titanic, olympic, I dont believe it could of been done. Logistics say it is imposible. But on saying that, Robin did a fair book on The White Star Line with not many errors. I also know who he spoke to regarding that book and also know he has a lot of material he has not published as yet. As to what this material is I dont know. I have a few educated guesses, but better not say too much for now.

Robin is a writer, and as such publishes books that will sell. He is also a rather clever man in his own rights. I believe any book should be judged on merit not face value. How do you catagorise a theory?

This is of course just my ten pence worth and well it is.

The switch theory AGAIN?! (Groan and sigh of exasperation). Well,m it obviously sells, so I am not too surprised that another book is coming out.

I too believe that such a switch never [sign in to see URL] for a start, too many people would have had to be in on [sign in to see URL] know how a conspiracy tends to [sign in to see URL] more people that know about it and are in on it, the greater the chance of the whole thing coming to light...

I think the problem with his books is that unlike the majority of people in the world, we are well-aware how readily people believe anything they see in print - and that as rediculous as some of his claims are to us, there are one heck of a lot of others who will look upon his books as God's Own Truth.

Hi Lights

I have to admit that is the only real reason I have a problem with it. Other things can be made to fit in place easily.

Hi TTF

I know what you mean there I spoke to a good friend in HUll a few years ago, He was adamant that it was true that the Titanic was not on the bottom, He read it in Robins book and was sure if it was printed then it was true. Yet this man is also helping me with a problem in the Gaul, And he does not believe anything he reads on it , I wonder what the main difference is apart from he is well versed at the GAul and not Titanic.

I would think that his main appeal would be to those who are not even reasonably well-versed about [sign in to see URL] got his book The Titanic Conspiracy early on in my study of Titanic, but I must have learnt more than I thought because I didn't "get it"...

Hi Lights

It also has to be said in order to research fully you do have to look at the bad as the good. There is always something there that makes you think.
