Hi Wills
Sorry if I sounded bit bullish but it is one subject that I will not back down on.
I take it you have read the latest on the artefacts?
Now they are looking at selling them all off, I reckon they should simply return them to the owners, on the sea bed where they belong.
Lets face it Titanic has been obsessively prodded and poked, remains of soles disturbed, and to cap it all a fallacy of a wedding!!!. Where will it end. Time is now to stop and revert to Ballard.

Graham
hi graham,
please do not apologise to me . i agree with you totally.
this is a subject i take very closely to the heart. i do not approve of salvaging and i will most likely never approve. it is wrong and it is a very hot debate.
yes i have infact heard about the artefacts. i find this very appalling for them to do it. they are treating her victums as if they
are just yesterdays news. without respect.
that is wrong very wrong.
however it does happen.

Re: IS IT RIGHT
Hi Wills
First on salvaging, I have been and still am very ant-salvage. Some crafts like the Mary Rose etc. I can understand, At least it had a archaeological point to it. The ships like the Titanic are only salvaged by grave robbers for gain. It used to be a punishable offence to rob graves and still is, yet the salvers of titanic seem immune to this, Yes before the pro-salvage squad shout and scream I know the Titanic has not been deemed a grave. but to me it is the same thing. A lot of soles went down with her and should be treat as one. I am one of those funny people who do not walk on graves in a grave yard ( not knowingly anyway). I have a lot of respect for the dead.
If you think about it we call the bottom of the Ocean's and sea's a "sea bed" Why then don't we respect things on it and let it sleep in peace?

Re: IS IT RIGHT
Hi Again Wills
In answer to your second post.
I actually started researching back in 1969. This was after two survivors of the Titanic visited our school. Alderman Cogan Hull UK. From there I suddenly found a great interest in research. I hogged the school library and the librarian ordered all the books he could for me. Then later I moved to general research on ship's and maritime. It would be the early 70s when I really got to do in-depth research. And not stopped since. With the advent of technology it is now a lot easier than before. I was one of the lucky ones at my work we had a internet connection before it was wide spread like today and I could get a lot of info from people early on. It was not the same as today either, Lot more expensive and lot less easy to use. No great web sites like today etc.
I now have a library of my own in the house and a office. I still do self employed work which is good as I travel around for that as well.
I am a member of countless societies and maritime associations and do work for the local maritime museum's.
Hope this answers your question :-)
Regards
Graham

Re: IS IT RIGHT
Hi Wills
It is more how does time find me :-) , I allocate certain times in the day to reply to messages such as this one, and other times of day to work. Although when I work from my Home office I answer all posts as they come in, or try to.
When on the road I have the laptop and palm all sinked to my mail box and still answer when I can. Although mobile connections are not always at there best and a few hot spots for the radio connection are never in the right place.

Re: IS IT RIGHT
I spend most of my free time researching Titanic, building this Titanic forum and building a White Star Line web site that I'm creating.
